Moose - Pictures
Moose - HabitsMoose are diurnal animals, but their activity peaks at dawn and at dusk. They have poor eyesight, but hear and smell very good. They are excellent runners and swimmers. Some populations of Moose migrate searching for food. In the wild Moose are usually not aggressive, but if the animals becomes harassed by people, dogs and traffic, it can be dangerous. During the rut males can be aggressive towards people, too.Mothers with calves are very protective and are very likely to attack trespassers. If a Moose's ears are laid back and the hairs on its rump are raised, be aware. It can be a bluff to warn you to get back, but people should take it seriously even though it is rather easy to run away from a Moose because it will not chase you far. Moose - DietMoose are grazers and browsers. They feed on a great variety of aquatic and marsh plants and grasses. They also eat lichen, bark and leaves. Like all deer, Moose are ruminants and chew their cud after feeding. Their stomach consists of four chambers and the food is digested with a help of microorganisms. It is very dangerous to feed Moose because they become demanding and may attack the next person they see, if he/she doesn't offer food.
